Did you ever notice that today's comic books suck?

I stopped into a comic shop in Michigan the other day and came to a sad conclusion. Comic books really suck nowadays. I used to LOVE comic books. I started "collecting" them pretty early when my dad would take me on his candy route and buy me a book at the last delivery of the day. I stopped collecting probably around the time I discovered girls, but still loved them deep down. As my wife and I were doing some cleaning, we came across my box of about 600 comics. I flipped through a bunch and was quickly reminded of how much I loved them. Once the warm, fuzzy feeling wore off, I decided to sell my entire lot and buy the one comic that I always wanted but could never afford- Daredevil #1 (Marvel Comics 1964). So I did. I sold my lot on eBay and bought a nice copy of the first issue of Daredevil in about a week's time. I'm now left with one comic to remind me of the better days of the medium. Don't get me wrong- today's artwork is amazing but I can't even bring myself to open one up. They all look so sleazy, like an issue of a porno magazine. They might as well shrink wrap them in gray so you can only see the top. What happened to the the little block in the upper corner with a small picture of the super hero and the price? What happened to all the text on the front as a teaser? I looked over that rack of comics in Michigan for about 15 minutes and couldn't bring myself to spend a few bucks to see what Daredevil was up to these days. Is this really what the people who read comic books are attracted to? Don't go thinking I'm just too old and don't understand today's youth- I'm only in my thirties. I suppose I just like my comics how they were "back in the day."
